THANKSGIVING By Joni Ames Poetry

Dear Lord, I’m thankful for this day 

That You have let me see 

And for the blessings of the love 

That You have shown to me 

So many times when I was down

You reached out for my hand

You helped me up when I would fall

And strengthened me to stand

You gave me faith to hope again

When hope could not be found

You comforted and kept me safe

When fear was all around

You helped me out of many pits

Of gloom and great despair

And in the loneliest of times

I called and You were there

When illness raised its ugly head

You healed and set me free

You chased that sickness out the door

And gave new life to me

When people sometimes let me down

You let me know You cared

You lifted me above the storms

And with me, Your love, shared

I’m thankful for my family

And for my many friends

And for the many joys we’ve shared

And love that never ends

So many things You’ve done for me 

I could not count them all

But I am thankful for each one 

The big things and the small

I want to thank You mostly that

You gave Your life for me

And shed Your blood upon the cross

For my eternity 

Please help me be Your blessing, Lord

For You are truly mine

I want my life to make You proud

And be Your light to shine

I want to know and make You known

From sea to shining sea

And always Lord to make You know

How much You mean to me
