'Living Inspired in Revelation' John Belt

Living Inspired in Revelation

God wants us to be inspired by His Spirit because we’re all creatures of inspiration. We will get our inspiration from somewhere. God wants us to live with His inspiring breath. In this we should desire to receive and represent the fullness of His nature.

God Lighting Upon Truths

Throughout church history God has shone His light on different truths. Many of you may be familiar with the prophetic or the prophetic movement. Maybe you have had some kind of interaction with it. It really goes without saying that there have been things that have been done right and wrong in the prophetic movement. (1 Thess. 5:20) There are things have been done wrong in the faith movement, or things have been done right in the faith movement. (Heb. 11:6) There are things that have been done wrong in the grace movement. And there are things that have been done right, in the grace movement. (2 Tim. 2:1) With every move there is some time of revelation that is given about the nature of God. In that process God is working with imperfect people. When there is an extreme to the fault it is not that the truth is wrong but that man has pushed it to the excess where it is imbalanced and misrepresented. Man can take it to the hilt.

We can represent Jesus the correct way. We don’t want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

It’s easy to do especially when it becomes personal where someone it hurt in the process and something bad comes out of it. Even in those cases we still have to back up and separate that which is God verses that which originates from soulish excess. Was there really something good in that? Yes. Was there a hunger for God’s Presence? Hopefully. Was there a hunger to hear God? Yes. Was that good? Yes. Was it perfect? NO.

Keep the Baby

So rather than throwing it all out, what we want to do is represent it the right way. God reveals things for a reason and doesn’t want us to throw out any truth that He has given to us. If it’s in the Bible it’s for all for us.

What are some of the shortcomings in these different areas? The prophetic could be someone trying to create “co-dependency” on themselves because they claim to be the “expert” prophetic person. With grace it would be “sloppy grace” where people use the grace of God as a license to sin. With faith it would be the “name it and claim it” to get your new Mercedes Benz. Not that God can’t bless you with one but that is not to be our focus. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. What are those things? God leaves that open-ended – but we know it is the things that the “Gentiles or unbelievers seek”.

What about holiness? (Eph. 1:4) There have been “holiness movements” as well. Is God holy? Yes. Does that mean you focus on the externals to “look holy”? No. Holiness comes by the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us. Therefore change is precipitated organically from the inside out. When we work from the outside in it is legalism. The change comes in the heart then the externals change naturally. Our relationship with God fosters the change, not a list of things to do.

Live with His Inspiration

In all these things it comes down to living a life inspired by the Holy Spirit. When God inspires you it will change the way you think and live. Learning to live from the inside out changes everything. Here we can represent the Lord as He truly is with the substance of His Spirit and Presence. He wants us to have eyes that see and ears that hear, to be full of His empowering grace, to live holy lives that are set apart from Him and that our hearts are filled with faith and wonder in His ability to do anything. All things are possible to Him who believes!
