'The Sacred Work of Science' Kris Vallotton

Have you ever grappled with the intersection of an unwavering belief in a supernatural God who releases healing from heaven and the pragmatic world of science and medicine? Perhaps you've found yourself standing at the crossroads, fervently praying for a miracle yet receiving healing through the hands of a compassionate doctor. It's a tension many face—the delicate dance of faith in God's miraculous power juxtaposed with the gift of modern medicine. What if there is no tension at all and there is actually a beautiful integration of faith and science?

These questions hit close to home for me. Years ago, my wife Kathy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, presenting what seemed like an insurmountable challenge to overcome. God has spoken beautiful promises of healing and restoration to me about Kathy, and I have no doubt that God is able to bring total restoration to her body as I have seen numerous individuals healed from neurological diseases. I also know Kathy’s journey of healing will impact many with the same disease! Yet, as we await the manifestation of the miracle, Kathy continues to receive exceptional care and groundbreaking treatments, all guided by the expertise of our dear friend, Dr. Karen Garnaas, a neurologist who specializes in neurodegenerative diseases. Through it all, our hope remains firmly rooted in God.

In a recent conversation with Dr. Garnass, Founder/CEO of Catalyst Neuromedical Center in Redding, CA, we delved into the divine relationship between faith and the science of medicine.

Frequently, strong opinions emerge when discussing the intersection of these two topics. When pursuing health and healing, some insist on relying on hard facts, while others insist on pursuing healing solely through supernatural encounters. In the midst of this discussion, Karen shares a beautiful perspective: “Science is the discovery of the laws of nature and the laws of nature are a revelation of the nature of God!” Romans 1:19-20 reinforces this idea, “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made“ (emphasis added).

What God creates reveals His power and divine nature! Scripture also states, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter” (Proverbs 25:2). God is the one who created all things and throughout creation He has concealed mysteries for us to discover. What if science is the practice of unveiling what God has hidden for us? What if scientific discoveries and medical treatments are part of God’s solution for healing?

The discovery of gravity by Isaac Newton stands as a compelling illustration—man's findings don't diminish the glory of God revealed through nature. Newton uncovered a principle designed by God, and this discovery unequivocally points to an all-powerful and glorious Creator.

What I’m getting at is, God can receive glory through advancements in science and medicine as medical professionals abide in Him, revealing His glory through their work. Not only that, but I propose that medicines and medical treatments are a way that God can bring healing to your mental and physical body!

The Kings Are Coming

I recently had a vision where I witnessed professionals, particularly in the medical field, converging into Redding. I heard the Lord say, “The kings are coming, the kings are coming! Get ready for reinforcements!” A medical community is already unfolding in Redding, where medicine and the supernatural beautifully blend, and more medical professionals are coming!

If you feel the Holy Spirit's nudge, consider this a heartfelt invitation. Come to Redding! We firmly believe God intends to transform our city across every field, a living testament to the impact of Jesus and His Kingdom.
