'The Affection Of Jesus ' Steve Porter

There are moments in life when words fall short when the ache in your soul feels too tender to name. When the silence between prayers seems deafening. And yet—it is in that very place that Jesus draws near.

Not to scold. Not to shame.

But to hold.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

—Psalm 147:3 (NKJV)

I see Him even now—stepping softly into the room of your heart, not with loud declarations or flashing signs, but with the stillness of love that wraps itself around you like a warm blanket.

His touch is gentle. His eyes are kind.

He leans low to where you’ve crumbled, gathers the shattered pieces, and whispers, “You are Mine.”

Beloved, your pain is not too messy for Him. Your weakness is not too much. The Lord is not intimidated by your need—He is drawn to it. He is near the crushed in spirit, near the faint of heart.

A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out.

—Isaiah 42:3 (NIV)

Oh, how tender is our Savior!

A holy hush settles over the soul when we realize Love Himself is holding us.

Not an idea. Not a sermon. A Person.

Jesus.

And He is not holding you at a distance.

No, He gathers you close—right into the shelter of His side. He covers you with His robe of righteousness. He places His hand upon your heart and begins to sing over you a song of restoration, a melody of mercy.

You are safe here. You are home here.

“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”

—Deuteronomy 33:27 (NKJV)

Let that truth sink in deep.

Not just “around” you… underneath you.

When you feel like falling, His arms catch you.

And in those arms, there is no rejection. No disappointment. Just belonging. Just love.

But don’t mistake His tenderness for tolerance.

Jesus is holy.

His love is pure.

And yes—He feels our pain, but He also feels our sin.

It wounds His heart.

It puts distance between us.

He doesn’t look away in disgust—

but He does call us higher.

He calls us to repent.

To turn.

To come home.

His correction isn’t rejection.

It’s restoration.

He disciplines those He loves.

Not to crush— but to cleanse.

Not to shame— but to heal.

And the moment we turn?

He runs.

He embraces.

He restores.

That’s the kind of love that holds and purifies.

That’s Jesus.

Perhaps you’ve been strong for too long. You’ve carried burdens no one else could see and cried tears into pillows when the world was asleep. But He saw. He knows.

And now… He holds.

“And may you have the power to understand… how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.”

—Ephesians 3:18 (NLT)

Oh, that you would sense it. Deep in your being, you would know that you are not forgotten, not forsaken, not just tolerated, but treasured.

He loves you beyond comprehension. Not because you’ve earned it but because it’s who He is.

And right now, dear one, He invites you to lean in.

No striving. No proving.

Just a quiet surrender… to the One who longs to hold you.

Would you take a breath and pray this with me?

Jesus, I am tired of trying to be strong without You. I open my heart to the healing embrace of Your affection. I give You my wounds, my weariness, my wondering. Wrap me in Your love. Anchor me in Your grace. Let me know what it means to be truly held by Love.

And may today, this very moment, be the beginning of deep healing.

You are not just seen… You are held.

Right now. By Love Himself.

With Love,

Steve Porter
