It is so common for God’s people to fall for the misconception of false humility that feeds their lack of importance. Let’s just set the record straight here.
Jesus did not die for what He did not value.
If you were not valuable, He wouldn’t have wasted His time enduring a brutal death on the cross. His very sacrifice points to the reiterated fact that is replete through the Bible that we are valuable to God.
He has spent the entire history of mankind intervening on our behalf, revealing His kindness, patience and enduring love just because of His valuation of us. Each of us are created after “His image”. We are the pinnacle of His creation just by this fact.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made just from the standpoint of His creative work. Not only this, but He has called us to be His very own “special” people – those who are set apart for Him. Because of these things we must get rid of the notion of being just the mud of the earth.
Obviously, apart from Him we are nothing – being totally dependent upon Him. I like to say that apart from Him I can do nothing but through Him I can do all things! I can also say with fullness of confidence and authority that I’m His own special person – just as all God’s people are. The difference between one Christian person and another is one get’s their identity as being a sinner while another gets their identity in being a saint.
‘Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.Exodus 19:5-6
Realize you are a saint in Christ Jesus. This is why Paul always addressed God’s people as “saints”, not sinners – because Christ has given us a new divine nature being birthed from His Holy Spirit. Embrace the fact of not only who you are as a human “created in the image of God”, but also considering what Christ accomplished on the cross as you are now translated from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God.
